SHAPERS - CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE
Shapers come in different sizes and the size that is right for you depends on the:
Size of the tactics board that you are using
Distance between the players and the tactics board
Age of the players you are coaching
Team size in the competition you are competing in
PLEASE NOTE:
There will be NO REFUNDS or EXCHANGES if you buy the incorrect size.
SHAPERS COME IN THREE SIZES:
SHAPERS MAX
Designed to show realistic spaces between players playing 11v11 on a tactics board 1200mm x 900mm (47in x 35in) or bigger.
SHAPERS
Designed to show realistic spaces between players playing 11v11 on a tactics board 900mm x 600mm (35in x 23in).
SHAPERS MINI
Designed to show realistic spaces between players playing 11v11 on a tactics board 708mm x 472mm (28in x 18in).
HOW DO YOU DECIDE?
STEP 1: START WITH THE SIZE OF YOUR TACTICS BOARD
If you want realistic spaces between players, then buy:
Shapers for a large (900mm x 600mm) tactics board
Shapers MINI for a medium or small tactics board
Shapers MAX for an extra large tactics board used in a bigger training/conference facility
STEP 2: DISTANCE BETWEEN PLAYERS AND TACTICS BOARD
If the players will be sitting more than 3.5m away from the tactics board, you could consider buying a bigger size, bringing the players closer to the tactics board, or bringing the tactics board closer to the players.
STEP 3: AGE OF THE PLAYERS / TEAM SIZE
If you are coaching younger players or the team size is a reduced format (4v4, 7v7, 9v9), then you could consider buying a bigger size.
FINAL CONSIDERATION: PICTURE A SET PIECE
Very rarely are the two teams on the field in a half each in formation. If, for example, you wanted to do a set piece and the size Shapers you purchased were too big, there would be very little space between the Shapers. With the proportions of some whiteboards where the big box is too small, you might not even fit all of the “players” into the box.
While the game is underway, one team is likely to be compact defending while the other would be making the pitch as wide and as long as possible (taking into account offsides).
